So you have decided to work at home. Well, if you are going to run with the big dogs in today's business world, it is important that you understand how Facebook works and how you can start using Facebook marketing techniques to bring your business to the next level. There are many reasons to market your business on Facebook, but one of the best is the fact that this social networking site has very loyal fans. Some studies show that twenty percent of your Facebook fans are going to visit your page repeatedly, which is highest among all social networking sites.

If you do not give Facebook marketing a fair shake, you are missing out. However, if you are about to begin marketing with Facebook, you will be happy to know that it really is not that hard. All you essentially need to keep in mind is that the better you become at promoting your business on Facebook, the more successful your business will be.

To get more Facebook fans to join your page (which is a crucial step in the process) you may want to offer them some kind of discount or coupon or prize for joining. It is human nature to feel good about getting something extra for nothing, so why not capitalize on that fact to make money for your business?

Never forget that the goal of using Facebook as a marketing tool is to make money, but to do that you will need to ensure you are creating a solid marketing plan that is based on what your fans say they need and want, what they like and dislike. Pay close attention to the feedback you get from your fans. This will be your most valuable source of the information that will help you create a strong marketing plan.

But hang on a second. Do not rush into getting fans thinking you can just attract any fans, willy-nilly. That approach will waste time and money and you will never get a significant return on your investment. Focus your efforts on attracting fans that have something in common with your business. That common ground can almost anything -- geography, industry, hobbies, etc. -- the important thing is that you do target your fans in accordance with some sort of guiding principle that relates to your business.

Work At Home - Your Customers Want to Know, "What's in it For Me?"

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

Often times I come across people who work at home, and operate a fairly valuable online business, but still have difficulty converting sales. The number one reason why people have difficulty converting sales is because they focus on their business, products or services, and not on the needs of the potential customer. Customers want to no up front, "What's in it for me?" This is the reason customers buy, but instead of focusing on their customers, some online businesses unknowingly commit the sin of advertising about themselves. This is mostly due to many online business owners not being able to tell the difference.

Does this sound like you? If so, you are not alone.  When it comes to work at home business advertising, you are definitely not the only one committing this "sin". Your competitors are also going the same route. This is why you would fail to achieve the results you are looking for when you mimic your competition's advertisements.

The good news is, if you can turn this around for your business, it will make your online business advertising infinitely more effective. By changing your message and delivery to your potential customers, you will be able to "steal" your competition's clients away! Even using subtle, yet effective changes in your advertising, your competition will not even know what is happening to cause their customers to go after your business.

Telling your customers what is in it for them is the key to work at home business advertising. Tell them why they should turn towards your businesses product or service as opposed to any other business advertising. Whether a home business is the "best" or the "fastest", it only seems like bragging on an advertisement, instead of answering the client's real questions. "What's in it for me?"

To be blunt, customers do not want to hear you or your business brag.  They do not want to know why you think you are so great. Remember, to explicitly inform your potential customers what is in it for them if they make the decision to do business with your company.
